Facebook is testing its brand new feature of cross-posting. Now users can post their Facebook feeds directly to Instagram without going through the hassle of going to the platform and rewriting the whole post, adding images and tags. Facebook is trying to make Instagram better to face the competition from other social media platforms like TikTok and Snapchat. This feature will obviously bring more users to Instagram.
Facebook cross-platform posting will help those people, who are present on both Facebook and Instagram, save a lot of time of going through all the pain of reposting the same thing on two different platforms. It will also give Facebook to seed more content to Instagram so that it remains the most popular social media platform among youngsters.
This feature has to be formally announced yet. Facebook has given some of the users the privilege to test this feature who have connected their personal, creator, or business account on Instagram. Facebook rolled it out for global testing earlier this month.
General Requirements
- To cross-post between Facebook and Instagram you need to have a business account on Instagram.
- Connect your Instagram account to your Facebook page.
- First You have to Disable the two-step verification method on Instagram. You will not be allowed to post if this security measure is on. (Please carefully think before doing that, If you think there is a chance of a security breach, we strongly recommend that you don’t do it.)
How to Link Facebook to Instagram
After setting up your business account on Instagram, You have to link your Facebook account to your Instagram account. Follow these steps to link your accounts.
Step 1. Go to the page that you manage.
Step 2. Click on Settings in the left panel, as shown in the image below.

Step 3. Again scroll down the menu panel on the left of your page, locate Instagram, and click on it.
Step 4. On the screen, you will see a blue button stating “Connect Account”. Click on it to proceed.
Step 5. Depending on your business or blog nature allow or deny access to your messages using the toggle button and then hit continue.
Step 6. A pop-up window will appear, asking for information about the account you want to connect, if the Instagram account that appears on the screen is the one you wanted to connect, simply continue. But if you want to connect a different Instagram account to your Facebook, you can click on switch accounts and enter the credentials for that account.
That is all now you will see a notification on your Facebook that your account has been successfully connected.
How to Cross-Post Facebook Posts to Instagram
If you are among those people who have this feature available you can follow these steps to Cross-post your Facebook feed posts to Instagram.
Step 1. Go to Facebook.com.
Step 2. Login to your account if prompted.
Step 3. Go to the page that you manage.
Step 3. You will see a small toggle button right above the feed box.
Step 4. Toggle it on
Step 5. It will take you to a new screen, where you have to select the individual Facebook post to connected Instagram, as well.
This will only affect the post in question. this will not make the settings default. So you have to go through the same process whenever you want to cross-post your Facebook feed to your Instagram. To make it your default post setting, you have to follow the steps below.
How to make Cross-Posting From Facebook to Instagram Automatically
Step 1. Go to Account Center.
Step 2. Toggle On the settings to automatically share all your Facebook Feed to Instagram.
Currently, Facebook has allowed only the posting of a single photo, a single video, or Multiple photo albums containing no more than 10 photos. Text-only feeds or gifs can not be yet shared to Instagram, so if you want to cross share your Facebook feed posts, make sure you include a photo to the text-based feed. Don’t add more than 10 images to the album or gifs to your Facebook post.
